Soil Capital

Top 50 Farmers is an acceleration platform paving the way for regenerative agriculture to be scaled from soil to gut.
We identify the farmers who are role modeling what the future of farming looks like and share their stories. We also connect them with industry executives and pioneering thought leaders to unlock new opportunities across the value chain.

Soil Capital is a mission-driven company with a long expertise in regenerative agriculture and low-carbon transition of farms.

Founded in 2013, Soil Capital has advised and managed over 200,000 hectares of farmland in transition to more profitable and regenerative agriculture across 15 countries & 4 continents.

Years of experience working alongside farmers led Soil Capital to launching Europe’s first certified carbon payment programme to accelerate the regenerative transition in 2019.

To date, the Soil Capital Carbon program has engaged more than 1,000 farmers in France, Belgium, and the UK and paid out two rounds of carbon payments totaling €4,000,000 from supporting companies. Payments are largely made from the agriculture and fiber industry to farmers for their contribution to healthy soil and food systems.

In 2022, Soil Capital became a B Corp company and took part in the creation of the Climate Agriculture Alliance as a founding member with the ambition to support the implementation of rigorous frameworks for implementing agricultural carbon finance in Europe.
