An inaugural Top 50 Farmer, Alexander Zimmer is the founder of Marienhof Monheim, a boutique hotel, regenerative farm, and event space that is redefining hospitality through a deep connection to land, food, and community. the farm invites guests to celebrate milestones, host gatherings, or simply escape into nature while experiencing firsthand how food can be produced in ways that restore ecosystems and strengthen local communities.
Before entering agriculture, Alexander began his career in the corporate world, working for an agrochemical company. Over time, he became increasingly disconnected from his values, which led him into entrepreneurship. For more than two decades, he built and led businesses, mentored young professionals, and developed a hospitality brand rooted in sustainability, purpose, and long-term thinking.
The idea for Marienhof Monheim took root in 2019, driven by Alexander’s growing concern about environmental degradation and his desire to take meaningful action. When the opportunity arose to lease farmland adjacent to his boutique hotel, he seized it. By 2023, the farm was officially launched.
Today, Marienhof Monheim is a thriving regenerative ecosystem and community hub. The farm produces vegetables, eggs, fruit, and meat, supported by orchards with more than 140 fruit trees, chickens, sheep, cattle, and pigs.
